The Missing Cat (A Poem)
I have a new poem for you. I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about missing pets on Facebook recently. I joined some groups after my brother’s cat went missing, so I’ve been keeping an eye out. We’re still looking, but all of the posts I’ve seen inspired this poem.
The Missing Cat
Lost in the night and frightened by sounds,
A cat was out in an unfamiliar town.
Away from the safe and cozy space it had known,
It roamed around, searching for a way back home.
The streets were empty; the sky cloudy and dark,
Though the stars shone through bright and stark.
The cat looked around in desperation,
But there was no one there to give it direction.
The cat meowed in fear and loneliness,
But no one heard its muffled distress.
It tried to find its way but it was in vain,
Alone and helpless, through falling rain.
The cat kept walking, determined to find its way,
Hopeful that everything would be okay.
After walking for what seemed like an eternity,
The cat reached a hilltop and could finally see.
The lights of its home shone in the distance,
Filling the cat with joy and hope.
The cat ran back home, feeling so relieved,
Knowing that its journey was finally achieved.
It was welcomed by its family with joy and love,
Never again would it escape beneath the night above.
The cat was safe and it was home,
A place of warmth and comfort, with no urge to roam.
It was an experience that it would never forget,
Running off was its largest regret.
It was thankful that it had found its way back…
Home.
Thanks for reading. :) Stay tuned for more poems and short stories in the near future.
